Rugby has been played in the Uddingston area for some 100 years. It started in the Birkenshaw area which is of course in the North Lanarkshire Council area. Over the years it had a variety of 'homes' until it lost its individual identity following a merger with Uddingston Cricket & Sports Club and became "The Rugby Section of UCSC" - in 1983. However, it became autonomous again, and in the year 2005/6 won the National 5B League. Success was achieved following leadership from a descendant of the local Black Douglas!

And apart from stunning results, these photos of the action from last season go to prove that the sun shines upon Uddingston too!!!
